3. Apply for your student visa
Apply for Student Pass
If you have accepted to study, you must obtain a “Student Visa” from AeU for the duration of study in Malaysia. Students & Alumni Affairs (SAA) officer will help you to apply for Student pass. All the application will be submitted to Educational Malaysia Global Service (EMGS) by SAA.
In order to apply for student pass you need to submit the following documents:
– EMGS Visa Processing Fee
– Medical Screening
– Medical Insurance Premium
– I-Kad Fee
– Immigration Fee
– Student Sticker
(Please note the charges above is subject to be changed based on Immigration requirement, therefore wait for SAA confirmation on the TOTAL amount that is required to pay to EMGS to process the Student Pass)
Visa Approval Letter (VAL)
Visa Approval Letter will be courier and emailed to the successful student or to the Learning Centre for (PNJ) students. Please note that the VAL is valid for only three (3) months. Upon receiving your entry visa, you are to inform the University seven (7) working days prior to departe from your country with the following information:
Bring along your original VAL. Representatives of the University will meet you at the airport and assist you in processing your entry visa at the Immigration checkpoint. Please submit your passport to the International Student Unit Officer from the Student & Alumni Affairs Department to obtain your student visa sticker as soon as possible, preferably after the medical checkup is successful.
General Guidelines for Applying Student Pass
Personal Bond
Malaysian Immigration requires AeU to sign a Personal Bond on behalf of the candidate, binding the University for the said sum. In order to comply with this requirement, the University requires the candidate to lodge with the University the said sum for the purpose of the personal bond. The bond money will be returned to the candidate after completion or upon withdrawal of his / her programme of study, on condition that there is no violation of any provisions of the Immigration Ordinance 1959 (F.M. 12 of 1969 (and Immigration Regulations, 1963 (F.L.N 228 / 63).

The Malaysian Immigration Authorities require at least 3 weeks to process the Student Pass. It is advisable for the applicant to submit all required documents immediately to avoid any delay in the application for the Student Pass.
We understand that moving to a new country and starting university involves a lot of planning, and there are a number of things which you can do before you leave home.
1. Book your flight to Malaysia
Make sure you arrive in time to attend the orientation which is held at the beginning of each semester.
2. Register for free transport from the airport to AeU
Get in touch with AeU Student & Alumni Affairs Officer to arrange for AeU to meet you when you arrive at the airport in Malaysia.

6. Living in Malaysia
Geography
Malaysia consists of two distinct parts to the country, Peninsular Malaysia to the west and East Malaysia with the states of Sabah and Sarawak respectively. Peninsular Malaysia, which houses the nation’s capital of Kuala Lumpur is located south of Thailand, north of Singapore and east of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. East Malaysia is located on the island of Borneo and shares borders with Brunei and Indonesia. The total land area of Malaysia is 329,847 square kilometers (127,350 sq mi),the 67th largest country in the world in terms of land area. Tin, timber, copper, iron ore and natural gas have always been the main natural resources of the country.
Climate
The climate is tropical and humid with temperatures on average at 20°C – 30°C year round. The local climate is affected by the presence of mountain ranges throughout east and west Malaysia.
The climate varies from the highlands, lowlands and coastal regions of the country. The coasts usually have a relatively sunny climate, with temperatures ranging between 23 °C (73.4 °F) and 32 °C (89.6 °F), and average rainfall ranging from 10 centimetres (4 in) to 30 centimetres (12 in) a month. The lowlands have a similar temperature, but followa more distinctive rainfall pattern and show very high humidity levels. The highlands are cooler and wetter, and display a greater temperature variation. A large amount of cloud cover is present over the highlands, which have humidity levels that does not fall below 75%.
Population
Malaysia’s multi-racial society contains many ethnic groups. Malays and indigenous groups comprise 67.4% of the population.By constitutional definition, all Malays are Muslims. About a quarter of the population is ethnic Chinese, a group which historically has played an important role in trade and commerce in the country. Lastly, Malaysians of Indian descent comprise about 7% of the population in the country.
Population density is highest in peninsular Malaysia, home to some 22.6 million of the country’s 28.3 million inhabitants.The rest live on the Malaysian portion of the island of Borneo in the large but less densely-populated states of Sabah and Sarawak. More than half of Sarawak residents and about two-thirds of Sabah comprise of indigenous groups.

The common languages spoken in Malaysia are Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language), English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Tamil.
Major Festival
Malaysia is country of a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society with many religious faiths. Each group practices their own religion and beliefs freely. The “Open House” concept is practiced at almost all festivals which means inviting relatives and friends to partake in food and festivity. The main festivals which Malaysia celebrates throughout the year are: Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas.
