Should I study online or on-campus? Full-time or part-time? Really, this is a question only you can answer.
At AeU it doesn’t matter if you are on-campus or online, or if you’re in Austalia or in Malaysia you will receive the same one to one support that we are renowned for.
Full-time vs part-time
AeU also gives the option of choosing full-time or part-time study.
Studying part-time means taking on only the number of courses each semester that you can fit in with the rest of your life!
Can I work and study at the same time? Yes, you can. Lots of our students work part-time while studying to provide extra money to supplement government study allowances, and even more of them are studying part-time as part of upgrading their business skills, changing careers or studying just for the love of it! They organise their study around work or family commitments, by choosing a program and study mode that best suits your situation. So don’t worry – we have plenty of experience looking after students just like you.
Most of programmes in AeU are conducted on a part time basis. This means that there are tutorials only once a month at any of our learning centres. The rest of the learning experience is online. This is for those who feel the need for face-to-face contact with faculty members. Examinations are held at the end of each semester at the designated learning centre. Programmes using this mode are conducted in Malaysia as well as in several other countries.
Some of our programmes are available in full time mode. Full time programmes are generally shorter and only available in Malaysia. Non-Malaysian students interested in this option will get assistance in visa and accommodation.
Imagine having a lecture theatre that was as comfy as your couch, not having to give up your job to study what you love, or being able to raise your family, work and learn all at the same time. Choosing to study online with AeU gives you the versatility and convenience to study on the go.
Studying online means you are provided with all your study materials throughout a semester online. These materials are divided into comprehensive week-by-week guides, but you have the flexibility to work through these materials at your own pace during the semester.
Online, distance, off-campus and external study modes are all used to describe a flexible classroom that comes to you!
If you like the idea of studying on the go, fitting study around your job and learning the same courses as on-campus students, then online study at USQ is for you!
You will be joining over 70% of our students who study online and we can’t wait to welcome you to our community.

Whether you’re a professional looking for a formal qualification, a graduate aiming to boost your career prospects or an enquiring mind eager for greater knowledge, you’ll be able to find a course at AeU to suit your needs.
Delivered via self-study and web-based resources, our distance learning and online courses allow you to enjoy a AeU education without ever having to visit our campus. This makes them an ideal method of study if you cannot move to Malaysia or if you need to study alongside other commitments.
As a AeU student, you have the opportunity to combine online and on-campus study to have the best of both worlds. As an online student, you are invited to come on-campus at any time and on-campus students aren’t always required to attend class in person. It’s all about finding a balance that’s right for you, and that fits your life. Remember to check your program of study to read the exact requirements.
Some courses (subjects) and programs have residential schools. Residential schools give students studying online the opportunity to attend campus for face-to-face lectures and tutorials, use of the facilities and to meet staff and other students. While the majority of residential schools are voluntary, some are compulsory so you may be required to come on-campus during a scheduled time.
On-campus study involves attending lectures and tutorials each week on campus. This mode of study means you interact with other students and lecturers face-to-face on a regular basis.
Studying on-campus is a great way to experience university life first hand. You can attend lectures in person, join in on-campus activities and take advantage of the facilities available.
Attending on-campus lectures and tutorials allows for groups discussions and provides you with the opportunity to work through examples and attempt practical questions.
Some courses (subjects), particularly those in science and engineering areas, also require students to attend practical laboratory sessions where hands-on activities such as experiments and use of specialist equipment are undertaken.
Have a look at our degrees and courses to see what you can study on-campus. If you are wanting to be closer to campus, there are accommodation opportunities available.
